NewsDaft Punk thrill massive LA crowdDaft Punk thrilled the massive crowd at their sold-out show at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena Saturday night (July 21). The Parisian duo stood atop a giant pyramid throughout their 90-minute set, dressed in their trademark silver robot costumes. Entering to the minimalist five-tone alien greeting made famous in the film 'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind', Daft Punk proceeded to work the crowd into a dance frenzy with crowd-pleasers including 'Aerodynamic' and 'Da Funk'. An impressive light display accompanied the French DJs, at times illuminating the entire arena in multi-coloured laser beam explosions reminiscent of the early '90s rave scene. Several scantily clad fans carried glowsticks in the sweltering arena, which throbbed non-stop with dance music throughout the night from openers Ratatat and French DJs Sebastian & Kavinsky, who warmed up the crowd with lively sets. Beyonce copyright controversy continues Following Des'ree's copyright infringement lawsuit against Beyonce, her label is dealing with what to do with the album that incited the lawsuit. The deluxe edition of B'Day, which hit stores last month, contains the song "Still in Love (Kissing You)," a reworking of Des'ree's 1996 song "I'm Kissing You." According to the complaint, the parties never came to an agreement on licensing for the song, and Beyonce's label, Columbia Records, faces the prospect of having to pull the album from stores. But rather than recalling the release altogether, Reuters reported that Columbia parent company Sony BMG plans to manufacture and distribute a new version of the deluxe edition, minus the disputed track. |
